Editorial and Corrections Policy
Boeing-747.com prioritises primary sources, dates changeable information and corrects material errors transparently.
Boeing-747.com is an independent reference edited by Alykhan Virani. This policy describes the standard used for new and substantially revised material.
Source hierarchy
Sources are preferred in this order:
- Boeing technical documents, programme records and contemporary releases
- Civil-aviation authorities and official accident-investigation bodies
- Airlines, airports, museums, NASA and other responsible institutions
- Contemporary books, journals and established aviation databases
- Community-maintained references, used as leads rather than sole proof of a disputed fact
Technical, safety and accident pages should cite the controlling report or document wherever it is publicly available. A source appearing in a list means it supports material on that page; it is not an endorsement of every statement the source publishes.
Dates and current information
“Published” means the page’s original publication date when it can be established. “Reviewed” means the factual content was checked on that date. Dates are not changed merely because a template or spelling error changed.
Fleet counts, routes, museum access and other changeable facts are presented as dated snapshots. Visitors should check the linked operator or institution before making travel plans.
Uncertainty
Estimates are labelled as estimates. Conflicting figures are explained rather than averaged into false precision. If a claim cannot be supported by a reliable source, it is omitted or clearly marked as unverified.
Corrections
Material factual errors are corrected as soon as a better source is confirmed. The review date is then updated. Small typography or formatting changes do not alter the review date. Readers can report issues through the contact page.
Images
The site uses images with permission. Where an image comes from Wikimedia Commons or another archive, the creator, source file and licence are recorded when they can be verified. Missing attribution details are researched rather than guessed.
Commercial independence
The site does not accept payment to change historical or technical conclusions. Any future sponsorship, affiliate relationship or supplied material will be identified beside the relevant content.
