Active Boeing 747 Fleet Tracker

This tracker answers a narrower, more defensible question than “how many 747s still exist?” It records the latest exact counts published by operators themselves and separately notes whether their current websites still advertise the type. It does not estimate stored aircraft or claim an exact worldwide active total.

Last checked: 4 September 2026. Fleet counts are snapshots, not live telemetry. Check the airline before booking or shipping.

The dates matter. Lufthansa has announced a continuing fleet transition, and aircraft assignments can change between booking and departure. Air China’s current website confirms the type remains in its product, but the most recent exact model count located in an official report is older than the other snapshots; it is therefore shown with its date rather than presented as a live total.

This is not a complete cargo-operator census. It deliberately includes only fleets for which a current operator page or recent first-party disclosure gives a defensible number.

How to find a bookable passenger flight

1. Search the airline’s own booking engine rather than relying on a historic route list.
2. Open the flight details and look for Boeing 747-8, B747-8, 74H, Boeing 747-400 or 744.
3. Recheck shortly before travel. Airlines may substitute aircraft for operational reasons.
4. Treat a seat map with an upper deck as supporting evidence, not a guarantee.

What this tracker does not claim

An airline owning an aircraft does not prove that it flew that day. Stored, maintenance, charter, government and test aircraft also make a single “active fleet” number difficult to audit. For that reason, unsourced estimates are excluded rather than blended into a seemingly precise worldwide total.
