UPS Airlines Boeing 747 fleet history
UPS Airlines introduced converted 747-400 freighters from 2007 and the 747-8F from September 2017, becoming the world’s largest 747-8F customer with a 30-strong 747 fleet.
UPS Airlines operates one of the largest freighter fleets on Earth, and since the late 2000s the Boeing 747 has been a core part of its long-haul network.
UPS delivered its first 747-400F in July 2007, using about 13 converted freighter frames (ex-Korean Air and Singapore Airlines aircraft). The type joined the MD-11 on transoceanic routes.
It took its first 747-8F on 27 September 2017 — N605UP, named “Spirit of Joe Sutter” after the 747’s chief engineer. UPS is now the largest 747-8F customer, with 28 or more deliveries and a 30-strong 747 fleet overall.
