Use designated public viewing areas and posted local rules. Narita’s elevated Mountain Deck has an explicit equipment restriction; the regular terminal galleries elsewhere have their own visitor rules.

Plan the visit around the viewpoint

  • Check the linked visitor page before travelling. Weather, refurbishment and local access notices can override published hours.
  • Look at the live 747 map for recently reported aircraft, then check the airport's own flight information. A reported position or scheduled flight does not guarantee a view from a particular deck.
  • Pick the indoor galleries for a sheltered visit, or outdoor decks when the weather and light suit your plans. Allow time to reach the right terminal and floor.
  • Keep a record in the spotting logbook, including the date and registration when you can read it confidently.

For a visit centered on a specific airframe, explore the preserved Boeing 747 directory.
