Korean Air was an early customer for the 747-8 Intercontinental and is one of the handful of airlines still flying scheduled passenger 747s. Its -8I carries 368 seats.

The cabin

The layout concentrates the premium cabins forward. First is a compact six-seat cabin in the nose, flown as the Kosmo Suites 2.0 product. Prestige, Korean Air’s business class, occupies both the forward main deck and the upper deck — 26 seats below and 22 above. The balance of the aircraft is a 314-seat economy cabin in the usual ten-abreast arrangement.

Upper deck or main deck?

On a 747 the upper deck is the quietest place in the aircraft: a small cabin behind the flight deck, reached by a stair of its own, with a lower ceiling and none of the footfall of the main deck. Airlines have used it for first, business or lounges depending on the generation, and Korean Air puts its Prestige cabin there as well as forward on the main deck.
